In 1964, Australian surfing legend Bernard ‘Midget’ Farrelly put Australia firmly on the map for surfing when he won the first World Surfing Titles held in Manly, Australia. Midget was riding a Keyo surfboard shaped by Denny Keogh, the original shaper from the legendary Brookvale Six and pioneer of the industry.
Denny Keogh founded Keyo Surfboards in 1957 in the back streets of Brookvale on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The board crafted for Manly Pacific by Keyo’s shaper Johnny Gill, pays homage to the design of boards shaped during that time and is symbolic of the mid sixties era. This particular board is cut from a solid Papua New Guinean balsa blank with triple cedar stringers. It is glassed in 7.5oz Volan fibreglass and polished to a high grade gloss finish.
