Fairy Bower Sea Pool
The charming Fairy Bower Rockpool, Sydney’s smallest sea pool at just 20 meters, was built by local residents in 1929. Located in Manly’s Cabbage Tree Bay along Marine Parade, this triangular gem is petite yet picturesque. It’s a favourite spot for families and kids, as well as for those who enjoy sunbathing around its edges before taking a dip.
Adorning the rock edge are sculptures by Helen Leete, known as ‘The Sea Nymphs’ or ‘The Oceanides’. Leete’s work can also be found in various locations around Sydney, including the Royal Botanic Gardens near the Opera House. Her sculptures are celebrated for their “tall, semi-figurative forms” and landscape figures that replicate the natural surroundings.
The waters just outside the Fairy Bower pool are renowned for excellent snorkelling opportunities. For convenience, there are toilets and a changing room near the rockpool.
The Fairy Bower Rockpool is situated just south of the Manly Pacific, roughly midway along the scenic walkway between Manly Beach and Shelly Beach—an easy 14-minute walk.
