Manly Beach

Manly Beach is the closest coastal spot to the Manly Pacific and serves as a gateway to Sydney’s northern beaches. It’s the most iconic beach on Sydney’s north shore, offering a surf school, designated swimming areas, and a picturesque walking path lined with towering Norfolk Island Pines. The bustling beachfront is also home to a variety of shops and eateries.

Just a 2-minute walk from the Manly Pacific, you can start your day with breakfast at the hotel, then claim your spot on the sand early or embark on the scenic foreshore walk that stretches from the southern end to Shelly Beach.

Manly Beach combines a vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a laid-back vibe. Spanning 3 kilometres, it is patrolled by three surf lifesaving clubs: South Steyne, North Steyne, and Queenscliff. Notably, it was the site of the world’s first surfing contest in 1964, cementing its status as one of the most famous beaches globally and a key destination in Australia. It’s a great place to learn to surf, with lessons available from local providers like Manly Surf School and Manly Surf Guide.

The beachfront offers a wide range of dining options to suit any taste, or you can bring your own picnic and enjoy it at one of the tables along the tree-lined promenade. Behind the beach, on the esplanade, you’ll find surf shops that sell boards, masks, snorkels, and flippers, as well as rental gear.
