Store Beach
Tucked away within the scenic North Head area of Sydney Harbour National Park, Store Beach is a hidden gem known for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty. Its secluded location, only accessible by water, makes it a perfect destination for those seeking a quiet escape from the bustle of Manly.
Store Beach is part of a protected marine and terrestrial ecosystem and is critical in local conservation efforts. It’s notably home to an endangered colony of Little Penguins, the only mainland breeding colony in New South Wales. To support their protection, access to the beach is restricted after dusk, ensuring the penguins can return to their nests undisturbed.
This serene stretch of sand is ideal for picnicking, sunbathing, or a refreshing swim in the calm waters of Spring Cove. Its sheltered position also makes it popular with kayakers and paddleboarders, with equipment rentals available from nearby Manly Wharf. Adventurous visitors can rock-hop from Collins Beach. Still, care is advised when choosing this route.
Since Store Beach has no facilities, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and any snacks or essentials needed for your visit. Please remember to carry out all rubbish and respect the delicate ecosystem.
While there are no permanent amenities on the beach itself, its untouched charm and connection to local wildlife make Store Beach a unique and memorable experience. It’s a tranquil haven showcasing Manly’s coastline’s quieter, more natural side.
